SBI PO 2022 Selection Process
The SBI PO selection process comprises three stages- Preliminary Examination, Mains Examination, and Interview.
The Preliminary Examination is an objective type test consisting of 100 questions to be answered in 1 hour. The topics covered in this exam are English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability, and General Awareness.
Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination will be shortlisted for the Mains Examination. The Mains Examination is also an objective type test consisting of 200 questions to be answered in 3 hours. The topics covered in this exam are Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, English Language, and Descriptive Writing.
Candidates who qualify in the Mains Examination will be shortlisted for the Interview. The Interview will be conducted by a panel of SBI officials and will carry a weightage of 50 marks.
The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination, Mains Examination, and Interview.
SBI PO 2022 Prelims Exam Pattern
The Preliminary examination will be an objective type test consisting of 100 marks. The duration of the exam will be 1 hour. The questions will be asked from the following sections – English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability.

Total Marks – 100
Subjects:
- English Language – 30 questions
- Maths – 35 questions
- Reasoning – 35 questions
- Time: 20 minutes
- NM – 1/4th of marks will be deducted for a wrong answer
SBI PO 2022 Mains Exam Pattern
The SBI PO mains examination will be 155 MCQs of 200 Marks and 2 Descriptive Type Questions of 250 Marks. The questions will be divided into four sections –
Objective Type
- General/Economy/Banking Awareness – 50 Qs of 60 marks
- English Language – 35 Qs of 40 marks
- Data Analysis & Interpretation – 30 Qs of 50 marks
- Reasoning & Computer Aptitude – 40 Qs of 50 marks
Descriptive Paper
- English Language (Letter Writing & Essay) – 50 marks to be completed in 30 mins
Each section will have a separate time limit, and candidates will have to complete all the sections within the overall time limit of 180 minutes.
There will be negative marking for every wrong answer, and 1/4th mark will be deducted for each incorrect response.
